Terrell Suggs and Marshal Yanda: Will They Make the Hall of Fame Cut Next Year?
The Hall of Fame voting process can be a nail-biting affair, and this year's results have left fans and players alike with plenty to ponder. Here's why the football world is buzzing about Suggs and Yanda's chances for the Class of 2027:

Darin Gantt, a Hall of Fame voter and Carolina Panthers reporter, revealed the behind-the-scenes voting details. The 2026 class welcomed Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, Adam Vinatieri, and Luke Kuechly. But just behind them, Suggs, Yanda, and Willie Anderson were the next in line, according to Gantt's insights. This means they are now automatic finalists for the upcoming year, giving them a significant advantage.
And this is where it gets interesting: While being an automatic finalist doesn't guarantee induction, it's a huge step forward. Both Kuechly and Vinatieri, who were in a similar position, made it in. However, Torry Holt and Anderson, also automatic finalists in 2025, didn't make the cut. So, it's a mixed bag, but Suggs and Yanda are undoubtedly in a favorable position.

With Yanda's impressive eight Pro Bowls, it's hard to imagine him not getting in before Jahri Evans, who has similar accolades but fewer Pro Bowl appearances.
Suggs, a defensive powerhouse, was only outvoted by Kuechly this year. With no standout pass rushers among next year's first-time eligible players, Suggs' 139 career sacks could be a deciding factor. His sack record places him among Hall of Famers, both ahead and behind him in the rankings.
The 2027 class is wide open.
Next year's class of first-time eligible players is impressive, but it's not without its challenges. Rob Gronkowski, Adrian Peterson, Richard Sherman, and Ben Roethlisberger are the frontrunners. However, each has a unique case for and against their induction.
Gronkowski, a four-time Super Bowl champion, falls short in receiving yards compared to Jason Witten, who is still awaiting his Hall of Fame moment. Peterson, despite his MVP status and impressive rushing yards, faces competition from Frank Gore, who is also in the running. Sherman and Woodson's cases are similar, with Woodson's three Super Bowl rings potentially giving him an edge.
Roethlisberger and Manning's comparison is intriguing. Both have two Super Bowl rings, but Roethlisberger's higher number of Pro Bowls and passing yards might give him a slight advantage. Suggs and Roethlisberger entering the Hall together would be a dream scenario for many fans, but only five modern-era finalists can be selected annually.
